Ep. 57 - Cultivating Creativity with Special Guest, Mindy Thomas
Hey mamas! We are so excited to share today’s episode with you!!! First, however, we want to recognize that today is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. We know that for many of you, every day can carry with it the reminder of a loss you have experienced. We hope you feel loved and surrounded today, by honoring the memory of your loved little one. And if you haven’t listened to episode 42 with Christina Ford, we hope you have a chance to listen and that her words and story can bring you comfort.
Today, we are sooooooo excited to have Mindy Thomas on the show! We have talked about her before, from getting to meet Dolly Parton last year (because of her) to talking about her amaaaazing shows The Absolutely Mindy Show on Sirius XM and the Wow in the World podcast! Mindy's creativity knows NO end and she comes by it super naturally, as you will hear in the episode. We wanted to talk to her today about cultivating CrEaTiViTy in our kids and we LOVE her advice! You guys, this episode is so much F.U.N.
Jennifer mentioned Mindy’s husband’s bluegrass band - Two Ton Twig. If you’re local to the DC area, you can see them live next month! We also mentioned the The Tiny Hands SNL Skit and The Tiny Hands game. You can even get yourself this set of all different types of tiny hands! You can also find more of Mindy (and Wow in the World co-host, Guy Raz) on the Highlights Podcast! This is for our little ones AND those of us that grew up reading the Highlights magazine!
From our “I’m Totally Into…” segment:
Courtney is totally into the Chick Fil-A One app - and make sure you swipe your app EVERYWHERE you go!
Jennifer mentioned last week that she is totally into pickled jalapeños lately (you may have seen a few instagram posts and stories this past week haha), so she had to mention the Wow in the World Podcast - Hot Peppers episode. This is a great episode Mindy and Guy did all about hot peppers - so much fantastic info! She is TOTALLY into the Hot Ones You Tube Show. There are a TON of episodes and so, so funny.
Just a reminder that we are reading How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk for our next book club episode, AND we also announced that we will be doing a podcast series as well! On our “non-book” months, we will have an episode where we point you to a podcast to listen to and then we will discuss it! So, in a few weeks, we will be discussing this podcast: “The Perils of Over-Parenting” by the Aspen Ideas To Go podcast.
Have a great week, mamas!!
