Ep. 63 - Talking About Epilepsy and When God Changes Your Plan with Courtney Mobley
Hey everybody! We are so excited to join you again this week with another fantastic episode! First off, we’d like to mention that this month is National Adoption Awareness Month, and we’d love to point you back to Episode 17 and Episode 25 of our podcast if you haven’t listened to them. In these episodes, we are chatting with our friend Katie Finklea about adoption and foster care. And while we are on it, have you seen the new movie, Instant Family? So, so good, y’all. Really well done and super insightful.
But… back to today! We have a special guest/plus one with us today - Courtney’s dear friend, Courtney! Yes, another Courtney at the table! November is also National Epilepsy Awareness Month, and we invited Courtney to come hang out with us to talk about it. Her youngest son was diagnosed with epilepsy two years ago, and we are so grateful to be able to share her story with you. We learned a lot from her, and we know you will, too!
Courtney mentions an app she uses to track her son’s seizures and it is called Seizure Log for iPhone (the icon on your phone displays as ‘Track It!’). The Epilepsy Foundation is a great website with lots of general information and answers to questions. And here is the sweet epilepsy video Courtney mentioned that explains to kiddos (and all of us!) a lot more about epilepsy!
From our “I’m Totally Into…” segment:
Our guest Courtney is totally into Sleeping at Last. Sleeping at Last is the name used by songwriter, composer, and producer Ryan O’Neal. He has been writing and recording songs for each of the enneagram numbers! (And y’all know we love the enneagram around here.) Here are the links to his album, podcast, and instagram.
Jennifer is totally into Golden Kiwi. Ha! Yes, a fruit. She’s totally into a type of fruit.
Courtney is totally into The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel on Amazon Prime. Is anyone else watching this? Season 2 starts December 5th!
Big thanks to Courtney for joining us today - we learned so much! And last call to do some reading on “How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk” - we are discussing it in next week’s episode!
Have a great week, mamas!
