Ep. 64 - The Book Club with "How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk" by Adele Faber & Elaine Mazlish
Hey everybody! We are so excited to have you back this week for our next “book club” episode! This week, we are discussing the book, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk, by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. We brought along Jennifer’s neighbor, Katherine, as our plus one today! Katherine is a mom of three girls and uses this book all the time in her career as a Child Life Specialist at a local children’s hospital (and of course with those three gals, too!). She brought wonderful insight and wisdom to the topics discussed in this book and we are so grateful to draw upon her experience. We think you are going to love her as much as we do!
One thing we mentioned, but will note again, is that we found this book to be the kind to read through slowly. There are six concepts explained, and we both felt like we will read through it again one chapter at a time, with time for practice and application in between. There are really great tools in here for your parenting tool belt! We also referenced the book, How to Talk So Teens Will Listen and Listen So Teens Will Talk by the same authors, and How to Talk So Little Kids Will Listen by Joanna Faber (Adele’s daughter!) & Julie King.
As you will hear in this episode, for the next four weeks, we are going to be taking December off! We will be releasing some fun things and past episodes over the next four weeks, ending with re-airing Courtney’s favorite episode on her birthday, New Year’s Eve! Can you guess what her favorite episode might be? Go to our Instagram and give it a shot!
From our “I’m Totally Into…” segment:
Katherine is totally into the Toddy Cold Brew System. She made Jennifer a big jar and it is awesome. (And already gone!)
Jennifer is totally into Bath & Body Works Aromatherapy Bath Bubbles. The scents are like a spa and the bubbles are just enough!
Courtney is totally into Nature Valley Granola Cups in Peanut Butter Chocolate. She let Jennifer and Katherine taste test them after the taping and they loved them, too!
Aaannnndddddd……. (drumroll)…….. Our next book is There’s No Such Thing as Bad Weather by Linda Akeson McGurk!!! This is a light and easy, fun read! Get your copy and start reading - you have two months!
Thank you, again, to Katherine for joining us today! And have a great week, mamas!
