Ep. 33 - Raising Boys - a Discussion on "Wild Things"
Hey everybody! Today, we are having another fun "plus one" episode! Our plus one is our good friend, Leslie, and we are so excited to have her! Leslie and her husband, Chris, have two boys - Hank, 10, and Houston, 6, which is why we had her on today to talk about the amazing book, Wild Things by Stephen James & David Thomas, about raising boys! Leslie and I realllllly enjoyed this book, and even though we only had enough time to discuss about half of the book, we hope you walk away with an idea of the content and are inspired to pick it up as well! (And you'll definitely get to hear what Jennifer on albuterol sounds like! Hint: push the 2x button on your podcast app - haha!). (And girl moms, we plan to get to y'all, too! If you want to read ahead to prep for that episode coming soon, check out Raising Girls by Melissa Trevathan & Sissy Goff!)
Courtney mentioned a recent study conducted by Welch's - Being a Mom is the Equivalent of 2.5 Full-Time Jobs. Anyone else agree? Here are some ideas to get the conversation going around the dinner table: 25 Ways to Ask Your Kids 'So How was School Today?' without asking them 'So How was School Today?' And we mentioned these two great books in the episode: What Stories Does My Son Need? by Michael Gurian and Wild at Heart by John Eldredge.
From our "I'm Totally Into..." segment:
Jennifer is totally into Moleskine notebooks. She uses all the different types and sizes for all kinds of journaling and other list-making and writing. Here is a link to the Moleskine Classic Notebook.
Leslie is totally into BeatBox Fit Workout. It's still just local to Nashville, but maybe you listeners outside of Nashville will find it in your town one day!
And Y'ALL. Check out Leslie's BLOG at https://atimetospeakup.blogspot.com/ and share with your friends. She's a fantastic writer and is SPEAKING UP, like her blog's name suggests.
Have a great week, mamas!
