Ep. 81 - Infant Sleep Training 101
Hello everybody!! Happy April! No April Fool’s Day jokes around here - we are talking about sleep training our babies! Haha. That is definitely no joke. Or maybe it seems the joke is on us? Whichever, we wanted to talk about it today, especially since we’ve been checking in with “New Mom Kristen” on her baby adventures! We even invited her to the table with us to talk about it!
Now first, and we said this in the episode, but we want to make sure we are clear, we are definitely not “experts” in the field of sleep training! We simply used a few methods that we really liked and have five kids that all sleep through the night! (And did pretty early on, too!) We wanted to chat about those today with Kristen!
So, you’ve probably heard us before talk about our love for “Babywise.” On Becoming Babywise by Dr. Robert Bucknam and Gary Ezzo was a great tool we both used in getting our babies to sleep. We also are fans of The Happiest Baby on the Block by Dr. Harvey Karp. Kristen introduced us to Taking Cara Babies, which blends the Babywise rhythm of “feed-wake-sleep” with the five S’s of the Happiest Baby, and then adds in a few more great ideas! We really loved this conversation! Courtney also mentioned The Miracle Blanket for swaddling - even husbands can do it! Haha!
From our “I’m Totally Into…” segment:
Kristen is totally into the Workin’ Moms show on Netflix. Yes, even TV can make you feel validated and affirmed where you are!
Courtney is totally into her Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree by QVC - Use the code TEN4U for $10 off!
Jennifer is totally into Pure Organic Layered Fruit Bar - so yum! And available at Costco AND on Amazon!
We also announced the next podcast to listen to! In two weeks, we will be discussing episode 190 from the Don’t Mom Alone Podcast, called “Set Free From Shame”. Take a listen sometime in the next two weeks to this episode and then join us as we discuss it!
And lastly, we have our next book club book! Drumroll……. Margin by Richard Swenson! Order your copy or find it at your library and join us in May when we talk about it!
We hope you enjoyed today’s episode! Please let us know what ideas you like or tips you have used for getting babies on a sleep schedule! We LOVE hearing from you! And thanks to Kristen for joining us this week! Have a great week, mamas!
